The size of the mooring buoy
depends on the weight it is required to carry. Determine
the total weight of the chain, swivels etc and ad
a safety margin of at least 25%.
The total gross buoyancy (equals the volume) of the
different buoys can be found from the product specs
in this website and from our catalogues and leaflets.
The combined weight of the chain + additional gear
should under no circumstances exceed 60% of the total
gross buoyancy of the mooring buoy. In waters with
strong currents and/or heavy growth of seaweed, algae
etc., less buoyancy than 60% should be utilised.
The dimensions of the mooring iron bar and swivel
should be chosen in accordance with the size and weight
of the boat, weather conditions, the currents and
wave height in the area the mooring is intended to
be placed.
If in any doubt, ask for professional advise from
your local harbour master or mooring experts. Important: For maximum safety, we recommend
that only the lower swivel (under water) is used for
mooring of the boat!
